PISTOL
Jedediah Smith's Holster Pistol
Early percussion lock, not converted from flint, @ 50 caliber,
single shot, Cap and Ball, 15 ½ inches long, 9 ½
inch octagonal barrel, muzzle load.
Recovered from Comanche Indians by Mexican traders after Smith
had been killed in 1831.
Now lost, having been stolen in San Diego 1961. San Diego Historical
Society in 1975 transferred title to JSS for the missing piece
and the holsters.
